Faculty Award for Florian Heinrich
Florian Heinrich was honoured by the Faculty of Computer Science at Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg for his scientific achievements as a postdoctoral researcher.
Florian has published numerous high-ranking conference papers, including IEEE VR, ACM VRST and ACM ISMAR. He has also contributed to numerous journal articles in IEEE Transactions on Visualisation and Computer Graphics and International Journal of Computer Assisted Radiology and Surgery. He already received important scientific awards, including the Karl Heinz Höhne Award (2021), the Best Paper Award Honarable Mention at IEEE VR (2023) and the Best Paper Award at ACM VRST (2024). Florian is also very active in initiating and supervising student team projects and theses. He succeeds in involving students in scientific projects at an early stage and generating scientific knowledge (and publications) togehter with them.
Overall, the faculty rated his overall academic performance to date as extraordinarily remarkable for a young researcher and worthy of an award in many respects. The award was donated by the Metop GmbH.
Florian's research was funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK), and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the research campus STIMULATE.
